The Molecular Biology Research Cluster at MRIIRS, Faridabad is headed by Dr. Kapila Kumar. My experience of working with her has been an exhilarating journey of scientific exploration and personal growth. As a passionate researcher, I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge discoveries that shape the future of biological understanding and potential applications. The team of talented researchers, each with their unique expertise, have fostered an atmosphere of shared knowledge and constant learning. The lab's commitment to excellence and attention to detail has undoubtedly elevated my own scientific capabilities. Collaboration is at the heart of this lab's culture. The collective brainstorming sessions, where ideas are shared, debated, and refined, help in broadening scientific horizons. The open-mindedness and willingness to collaborate across disciplines have made this lab an intellectually stimulating and supportive environment. Furthermore, the mentorship and guidance provided by the principal investigator and senior researchers have been instrumental in shaping my career trajectory. Their expertise, encouragement, and continuous support have not only nurtured my scientific skills but have also instilled in me the importance of integrity, perseverance, and innovation in research. In summary, working in this molecular biology research lab has been an invaluable experience. It has provided me with a platform to explore my scientific curiosity, collaborate with brilliant minds, and contribute to groundbreaking research. I am grateful for the opportunities and the lasting impact it has had on my scientific journey.

I suppose there are occasions when desire to do something comes from a belief that something is fascinating and pertinent and that you can't escape that belief. There is therefore genuine motivation. After reading about GMOs and related topics in high school, I start to become interested in biotechnology. My close relative's death from cancer during the college search was the real impetus for joining a research lab. In my first year, I began my journey at MBRC to learn the fundamentals of biotechnology and get experience with wet lab studies. Competition with my colleagues helped me stay motivated, which in the end I would consider a positive aspect of working at MBRC. Under the direction of Dr. Kapila and Dr. Jayant, I completed a number of projects that expanded my knowledge and forced me to step outside of my comfort zone. I worked on an intriguing oncovirus-related research topic and published an article. After this exposure, I can say with certainty that I feel assertive and confident.

My experience at MBRC hails back from the years of its inception. I got in touch with our faculty members and students while accessing MBRC for research purposes. The facilities have been really good, so are the professors, especially Kapila ma’am and Rashmi ma’am. I remember my time from 2019, writing this testimony, that we brainstormed and experimented on the grounds of MBRC for the lovely competition of iGEM 2020.
